Then yes, that was me, and it came from a real registered company with a real address at the bottom of this page. Here is exactly how you ended up on my list and exactly what I did.
01 The whole of it
Four things worth knowing, in the order you probably want them.
Nothing here is a sales page. If you read it and decide you would rather not hear from me, the fourth block tells you how to arrange that in one line of reply.
Business contact details that are already published: your own website, your Google business listing, and the public register at Companies House. I do not guess addresses and I do not buy lists.
Software loaded your site and checked four things: whether it uses HTTPS, whether it declares a mobile viewport, whether it scrolls sideways at 360 pixels wide, and whether the text renders under 12 pixels. Whatever I named in the email is one of those, and you can check it on your own phone in about five seconds.
A rough example of the page, put together quickly from the wording already on your site. It is a taster, not a finished website — nobody buys the example. It exists so you can see the shape of the thing on your phone before deciding whether it is worth a conversation.
Nothing. There is no tracking pixel in the email, so I do not know whether you opened it. Reply with “no thanks” and I will take you off the list; reply with nothing and you drop off it anyway.
02 If you would rather I stopped
One word by reply is enough.
Reply to my email with “remove” and that is a complete and sufficient message. You do not have to give a reason, and there is nothing to log into or unsubscribe from.
Within five working days your record comes off the sending list, any example page built for your business is deleted, and your business name and email address go onto a suppression list. That last one is the only thing I deliberately keep, and only so that a later batch of publicly listed businesses cannot pick you up a second time.
The privacy notice sets out the lawful basis, what is held, how long it is kept and how to complain to the ICO. It is written in plain English rather than boilerplate, because this is the page people actually read.
